# Open Circuit: Sónar+D HackLab

> Open Circuit is a collaborative performance project developed by Vladislav OSSSO and a seven-person team during the three-day Sónar+D 2026 HackLab. A dancer enters a feedback loop with an AI system that translates movement into Energy, Chaos, Coherence, Memory and Release. These five values return through sound and image, shaping an environment the dancer can sense and respond to.

## Making perception visible

We never normally meet a machine’s perception, only its conclusions: the image, the answer, the output. The interpreting happens somewhere we can’t see. Open Circuit places a body in front of that hidden process and turns it outwards into a dialogue between two unconscious processes: neural network algorithms and corporeal intuition.

## Five shifting values

A dancer enters into dialogue with a system that listens, misreads, remembers and responds to their movement. AI translates that movement into five shifting output values: Energy, Chaos, Coherence, Memory and Release. These values return through sound and image as texture, atmosphere and visual memory change: an ambient pressure system the dancer can sense, anticipate and respond to.

## A shared nervous system

Neither human nor machine fully leads. Each response changes what follows. What emerges is a feedback loop between body, sound and image: a shared nervous system, part limb, part circuit. We built the project from scratch over three days at Sónar+D 2026 HackLab, connecting Unreal Engine, Ableton Live and OSC. I usually focus on visuals; here, I took on a more sound-oriented role, learning to think differently through the process of creating together.

## Signals in the loop

Seven views trace the system from corporeal gesture through algorithmic interpretation to sound, image and collective response. The arrangement follows the same feedback structure as Open Circuit: no fixed beginning, no final output.
