The idea
I had wanted to make something phygital for a long time — a live creation in which AI would also be a participant. It was an experiment in improvisation between a human and AI, exploring the interaction between the digital and physical worlds, and collaborative creativity moving from one space into the other.
The room
The piece was staged at the gallery and cultural centre Palau Dalmases, directly across from the Picasso Museum. Daria Borysova and I improvised: live footage from the camera was streamed into the AI, which generated its interpretation in real time and projected it onto the screen. There were about eighty people in the audience, mostly Catalans, local art critics and art lovers.
Afterwards
One of my favourite performances of 2024. Something changed that day. I remember feeling completely exhausted and, at the same time, like a true artist. By the end of the improvisation people applauded for half a minute. I was honestly a little taken aback — I had not expected such an ovation.
