The performance

In April 2025, at Palau Dalmases in Barcelona, I took part in a performance for the AI Design Awards ceremony. Alongside the musician Pepe Luis and the generative AI krea.ai, we created a live improvisation in which krea.ai acted not just as a tool but as a full-fledged co-creator. My goal was to explore the dynamics of interaction when artificial intelligence improvises in real time, actively influencing both the artistic outcome and the emotional state of us, the human performers.

Intention

Three things I wanted the piece to do. Demystify AI — show that it can be a creative partner rather than a threat. Invite artists and communicators to treat it as a new way to think and explore, not only as a means of production. And use improvisation itself as a method of communication, so that people feel the thing rather than have it explained to them.

Response

The audience reacted with genuine enthusiasm and curiosity. Many said that for the first time they felt an emotional connection with an algorithm — which for me is the highest praise. The collaboration opened a dialogue about the future of co-creation between the human brain and neural networks.
